When the time came I walked out to the airport. I really liked the architecture of the Marrakech airport so I stopped even outside to take more pictures from the building itself as well before heading inside to check-in at the desk and after waiting for a while I boarded my flight back home.

To the winter.

Nothing was the same anymore. Ending the past year and starting the new one with this short trip changed me even more. I woke up. From now on I knew what I started to walk a new path. A way different one I used to walk on before.

I started to realize I feel alive when I’m on the road without plans, meeting new people, live, collect and hear new stories, explore more places, and have more friends from all over the world.

I went back to work next Monday. My mind was constantly running on where should I go next.

I was talking with Guilia even after we went back home. One day She told me about one of her next plan and made me think.

Sahara stories – ps. I still have sand in my camera lenses..! https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/sahara-stories/ https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/sahara-stories/#respond Thu, 26 Aug 2021 18:08:19 +0000 https://wanderlustontheroad.com/?p=366 The way into the Sahara on the camels back was cold, but as beautiful as the sunset we were able to experience that day. In the camp we had an amazing dinner after singing and playing music at the camp fire.
At late night I went out into the darkness just to watch the sky with an Indonesian family and during those hours we spent out there take pictures with the night sky. They didn’t really know that how to do it so I was helping and teaching them how they should do it. The result was amazing. I haven’t seen the sky like that before anywhere I’ve been before.
After that I asked Guilia to came outside into the darkness and we will make a great picture! It was just like that.
Friendships and great memories were made on that day under the bright sky and millions of stars what we will never forget.

Find the bus https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/find-the-bus/ https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/find-the-bus/#respond Thu, 26 Aug 2021 18:05:19 +0000 https://wanderlustontheroad.com/?p=363 It was New Year’s Eve. I enjoyed the night on the rooftop for a while. Lots of people were smoking weed and drinking around but soon most of them left to party more so I headed to my room and tried to take a short sleep because I had to wake up really early. Basically, I had about 2 hours of sleep before I woke up to my alarm. I don’t have to say that wasn’t enough I guess. Anyway, I packed everything silently because I saw some of my new friends got back already and sleeping.

It was still dark in the morning when I left. The only problem was the hostel is in a place which is quite a labyrinth. I was trying to get to my pickup point in time which wasn’t so far but I got lost at least 3 times before someone could lead me in the right direction after they asked for some money of course… I didn’t really feel safe that morning to say no and just go along by myself or arguing with them and risking that I miss the bus so I gave them a little tip.
Soon after this uncomfortable experience I found my way out to the main road finally and speed up my walk so I reach the meeting point in time.

After all, I arrived exactly in time a few minutes before the pickup time but the bus was nowhere near so I had a bit of time to calm down my breath. A little while later our minibus arrived and our journey began straight to the Sahara!

Back to the crowd https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/back-to-the-crowd/ https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/back-to-the-crowd/#respond Thu, 26 Aug 2021 18:04:26 +0000 https://wanderlustontheroad.com/?p=361 At late afternoon when we arrived to Marrakech we had a place booked in advance but we get lost at least two times even in daylight until we found the hostel. When we were walking up to our room I already smell the marijuana on the second floor where people were preparing for the night in different ways as you can see. Some of them drinking and a few is “flying”.
The others went out to party in the city but I decided to stay and just enjoy some fireworks and after that I just went to sleep because I had to leave early morning in the dark. I booked a tour through the countryside to the Sahara.

Get the hell out of here https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/get-the-hell-out-of-here/ https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/get-the-hell-out-of-here/#respond Thu, 26 Aug 2021 18:03:11 +0000 https://wanderlustontheroad.com/?p=359 After I managed to buy and activate a local SIM card I headed out of the airport and started to walk towards the city center. On my way I was trying to get in touch with my couchsurfig host for that night.
But after he managed to answer which was “I forgot about it and it’s not good now”. I texted him even the day before and when my flight from home to make it sure. Looks like that still wasn’t enough.
This is how I ended up in Marrakech at 10 pm looking for a place to sleep and after all I ended up in a hostel rooftop playing card games with a bunch of stranger at almost midnight. It was a good end of the day at least.
The next day I left the hostel and started exploring the city itself but I found it too crowded at that day so I started to look and thinking about buses to anywhere. I picked the small city Essaouira at the sea and hopped on the bus. Here the street vendors selling exactly everything still following you and even hop on the bus until it’s about to leave.
Not so long after we left from the station I’ve got a message on couchsurfing from two Canadian if I want to meet up with them in Essaouira. Such a coincidence right? So since I had no place to sleep yet I booked the nights at the hostel where they were staying and we were spending the days together exploring the place and enjoy the calm city. Except the market street because that was quite busy but a LOT of tasty food everywhere!
It was quite fun this random meet up and exploration and after those days we headed back to Marrakech together for the new years eve.

From winter to “summer” https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/from-winter-to-summer/ https://www.wanderlustontheroad.com/from-winter-to-summer/#respond Thu, 26 Aug 2021 17:34:31 +0000 https://wanderlustontheroad.com/?p=350 It has been a long time since I wanted to spend my birthday and new year’s eve in a memorable place doing something crazy. Still, I spent most of them at home or with friends and classmates drinking stupidly until the morning then being dead for two days straight.

It was time for a change.

It was a few weeks before the end of the year and finally, I decided not to sit at home or just go to a stupid party which I always found boring and started to look for tickets to a bit warmer place.

I had a lot of destinations set up on watch to track the prices.
One morning at work we just loaded the furniture we previously made on the truck. Then we jumped into the car and headed to the customer.

On the way to the address, I’ve got an email notification on price drops for a destination. I opened it in a rush, where is it? It was Marrakech, Morocco.

I went for it and booked the tickets right away. I was on the plane a few days before new years eve to the unknown once again. It wasn’t a long ride everything went well but already at the start, there was a big journey because as soon as I got out of the airport something unexpected happened.
